![]() Wikipedia has an excellent page on software naming conventions if you would like to know more. Semantic version naming uses three number sequences such as Version 1.0.0, Version 1.0.1 and so on. Some systems have sequence-based version numbers that increment as versions are released such as Version 1, Version 1.1, Version 1.2 etc. There are a number of software naming conventions that dictate how all software should be labeled.
